Sirius continued.

Last night Bob M and I set up in my garage to continue with our Sirius assembly. Before starting we gave all three of the planes a once over and found some quality control issues. The largest being that the holes in the wing on Bobs plane do not match up to the holes in the fuse. While not the end of the world its not exactly what you want from an expensive top quality kit.In the pic below you can see the bolt on the right is off by 4mm.

The repair will consist of filling the bad hole ,letting it dry and then re drilling the hole again.
The second problem is that one of the wings had an air bubble in the leading edge during the molding process. Its a pretty easy fix,but again its not the best result from such a high quality builder. The guys that make the plane have been good to respond and give advice, but they are in Sweden so shipping parts back and forth is cost prohibitive.

What we are hoping is that the plane will live up to all the hype and how it flies trumps all the trouble we have had with the parts. It seems like a well thought out design and the pod is exceptional. We started out working on the wing.We had to cut out the spots for the servos and deal with wiring the wing. Bob has been using these little connectors and man they are small and light. But I cant say I will use them again. It was a lot of work to get them to fit right and solder all the wires on. It took both of us to make it work. In the end I think it will be solid. Tonight I am going to make the control horns and get the wing servos in place .
