Bolt Browser for mobile phones
Yesterday Bitsream released a new browser for mobile phones in beta test form.Bolt seems to have something that a lot of mobile browsers are missing.SPEED!!!! The default browser on the Storm is pretty fast, about the same as an IPhone. It takes between 25-35 seconds to render a high quality web page, but with Bolt it takes10-15 for the same page. Now this is a beta version so there are some issues. It crashed 3 times over say 30 pages of surfing. There is no zoom function for touchscreen phones ,but a normal BlackBerry you use the # keys for a lot of functions. For me just getting to the pages fast is huge. If I am surfing on my phone it means I am out and about and dont have time to wait for a poorly rendered web page. Bitstream claims that it will use less power for the surfing, this has yet to be seen ,I surfed way more than average while playing with it yesterday and sill had half of my battery left. There is a setting for quality of photo rendering which could slow the browser down if you have it set to high. But you will still be faster than the other browsers. I think that this could be an amazing browser once they work out the little bugs at final release.Cant wait to see what happens.
